Launch of construction of the hemp fibre processing plant
Natūralus Pluoštas UAB is building a modern hemp stalk processing plant in Kėdainiai FEZ, with its investments totalling 8 million euro. The test run of the plant has been planned for October of 2018, which will start its operation at a full capacity in January 2019.
The plant area will comprise nearly 7,000 sq m with a 2.5 ha territory around it. With the plant operating at a full speed, it is expected to annually process up to 50,000 tons of stalks and produce 14,000 hemp fibre.
It is anticipated that the Lithuanian farmers will become the suppliers of the raw material, and that the plant will process the textile hemp purchased from them.
The special feature of the future plant will be the no-waste production. The hemp collected will be processed to obtain fibre, while the residual materials (hurds and small fibre particles) will also be used in various branches of agricultural and industrial sector.
